Synopsis
In 1985, Irish journalist Paddy Agnew and his girlfriend Dympna touched down in Rome in search of adventure, sunshine and the soul of Italian football (well, Paddy was looking for that). They had never been to Italy before, nor did they speak any Italian. The day they arrived, Michel Platini was lifting the Intercontinental Cup for Juventus. In the year that followed Silvio Berlusconi bought debt-ridden AC Milan and Diego Maradona guided lowly Napoli to a first-ever title success, both of them in their different ways performing miracles of Padre Pio proportions. It was the height of a golden era in Italian football.

"Paddy Agnew is an outstanding writer" - Eamon Dunphy
-
"I doubt there's anybody understands Italy and their love of the beautiful game better" - Mark Lawrenson
